Weekend in the Pyrenees

This weekend the AIFS program took a weekend trip to the Spanish side of the Pyrenees mountains. Along the way we stopped in a small village called Castellar de N'Hug. This small village is known for their giant croissants. And boy were they delicious! After walking around the pueblo for an hour or so, we hiked back down to the bus. We saw some gorgeous water falls and mountain views along the way!

Here are some pictures from Castellar de N'Hug and the hike:

That is where we started the journey.

After leaving the village we drove to a park designed by Gaudi for the Artigas family, Jardin de Artigas. The park was beautiful and very peaceful. We learned a bit about the history and why Gaudi built the park for the family. We were also the tour-guides first English tour. We were in an area with heavy Catalan influence.

Here are some pictures from the garden:

The remainder of the weekend was spent relaxing and visiting other villages around our hotel. We visited Santuario de Queralt and Baga. From the Santuario we had a panoramic view of the surrounding villages and river Llobregat. The view was amazing! In Baga we watched a medieval festival and took a tour of city/past kingdom. Everything was in Catalan, and therefore, very difficult to understand!

This week Isaac is here visiting while on his spring break! I could not be more excited to have someone from home! Sadly though, I still have class this week. With it being the week before spring break for me, I have a lot of projects to do. Isaac leaves Friday, which will inevitably be too soon, but on Friday I get to pick up Mom and Dad! After next week I only have a month left abroad. Time has flown by really fast, but I can say that I am ready to be home so I can see the pups and Miss D! Show season is getting ready to start at home and I am missing the 2 home town shows of the year. Good luck to everyone showing in Raleigh; I will be cheering you all on!

Hope everyone has a good week!
